During the summer holidays Thrive Battersea ran a summer programme for children with disabilities at NatureScope on Wednesdays and Thursdays for 3 weeks.
The space at NatureScope was ideal, being set back from the common with both great indoor and outdoor space for a number of different activities. The children had the chance to harvest a number of different vegetables from beetroot to green beans and then take the vegetables home to cook.
The children thoroughly enjoyed pond dipping and taking a closer look at the newts, pond skaters and other creatures we successfully scooped out. The lovely shady area at the back of the building allowed for a welcome retreat out of the heat, where some of the children planted some bergenias.
The parents were very enthusiastic about any future sessions taking place, we are therefore already making plans for further programmes in 2017.
